Functional Movement Course

Welcome to the Functional Movement course! This page includes 12 mini 20-minute classes focused on highly efficient strengthening and stretching .

Lesson 1

Welcome to the functional movement course! Strengthen your body effectively. In this class we focus on the core muscles at the front and sides of the body.

2 blocks or chunky books at helpful, but not essential.

Lesson 2

Strengthen your body effectively. In this class we focus on the upper body and balance.

2 blocks or chunky books at helpful, but not essential.

Lesson 3

Strengthen your entire body! This is an intense little practice that will challenge you and leave you pleasantly tired. I got a little enthusiastic and ran over by 5 minutes!

2 blocks are helpful, but 2 chunky books are fine, and nothing is OK as well.

Note, the light gets a little dark at the end due to a technical challenge, but the audio remains clear.

Lesson 4

Build strength in your entire body, with a focus on sharp, dynamic movement. This will really help with vinyasa transitions!

A blanket is nice for your knees.

Lesson 5

Focus on parts of your body that sometimes get a little neglected - the inner and outer leg.

Two blocks or something to put under your hands (books, weights, etc) will be really helpful here.

Lesson 6

Build up strength in your back, glutes and core, to help prepare for stronger backbends and smoother transitions out of them.

No props necessary, although a blanket is nice for the knees.

LESSON 7

This mini practice focuses on strength work and stretching to help you feel better in headstand.

We don't actually come into headstand, unless you really want to, so don't skip this one if you hate inverting!

No props necessary.

Lesson 8

This core focused practice includes a lot of floor work, including some variations with crunches.

No props needed, unless you want a blanket for your knees
